Marcelo cements future to Real by signing new deal

Real Madrid says it has extended the contract of Francisco "Isco" Alarcon until the end of the 2022 season, keeping the talented attacking midfielder tied to the club for another four seasons.

Real Madrid has agreed a new deal with Marcelo, the club have confirmed.

The Spanish midfileder has been at the Bernabeu since joining from Malaga for £23m in 2013, and the new deal will run until June 30 2022.

A number of teams, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich, were linked with a move for the Spain global as he entered the final year of his deal.

"Tomorrow, Friday, at 2pm, Isco will appear before the media in the press room of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium".

Marcelo has made 406 appearances for Madrid, scoring 28 goals.

Isco has been an ever present in Madrid's team this season, playing in all three Liga games and their 3-0 win over APOEL in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The contract news was announced for Marcelo shortly after he was given a two-match domestic ban by the Spanish federation (RFEF) for his sending-off in the 1-1 draw with Levante for kicking Jefferson Lerma in an off-the-ball incident.

The left-back will be absent for Sunday's trip to Real Sociedad and the visit of Real Betis on September 20.
