MSU top ranked college for 14th straight year

This marks the 34 edition of Best Colleges publication since the rankings began being recorded in 1983.

Louisiana Tech, which is in Ruston, was the only other state school in the top tier of national universities at 216 out of 230.

Also, the university was ranked No. 35 among public schools in the Best College for Veterans list. The Carnegie classification has served as the basis for the Best Colleges ranking category system since the first rankings were done in 1983. Student retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate are also factors taken into consideration.

Western was recognized in the U.S.News rankings for graduation rates (six-year), freshmen retention rates, undergraduate business programs, undergraduate engineering programs (no doctorate), least debt (class of 2015), highest proportion of classes under 20 students, most worldwide students, economic diversity and campus ethnic diversity.

UM was followed by Michigan State University at No. 81, Michigan Technological University at No. 124, Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University tied at No. 207, and Wayne State University at No. 223.

U.S. News compiled a list of schools whose Class of 2016 graduated with the lightest debt load.

CC also moved to 23rd Best Liberal Arts Colleges, up from 24th a year ago, and has the 10th best undergraduate teaching program among liberal arts schools.

Among national campuses, the Westwood school was ranked 21st, up from 24th a year ago, when crosstown USC bested it by one place.

"Recognition for UNG and our consistent high-level ranking on this list reflects the quality of our educational experience, as well as the value of a degree from this institution", said President Bonita C. Jacobs.

"It is great to see the U.S. News & World Report ranking continue to gradually improve, reflecting Cornell's continued dedication to our students", said Colleen Murphy, vice president for enrollment and dean of admission.

UB's rise the rankings this year is due to its improvement in several of the ranking metrics used by U.S. News, including UB's reputation ranking among the university's peers, an increase in SAT scores, an increase in the number of classes under 20 students and improving its graduation rate.

As per the WION report, based on employability rankings, five out of the ten universities are US-based.

In addition, the AFA tied for second in High School Counselors Top College Picks, with the United States Military Academy and Williams College.
