Raiders Place K Sebastian Janikowski On IR

The Raiders announced the signing of Giorgio Tavecchio, who was with the franchise as a member of the practice squad, to the active roster Saturday after placing Janikowski on IR.

In a surprise move, the Oakland Raiders have placed kicker Sebastian Janikowski on injured reserve one day before the team's season begins.

With projections of 2.9 extra points, 2.0 field goals and 9.6 FanDuel points, Janikowski was set to be the highest-scoring kicker in Week 1.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport says Janikowski won't need surgery on his back and could return in eight weeks.

The letter asserts that the signatories back the government's plan to negotiate an interim period after the formal exit date. Mr Barnier's team also said Irish citizens living in the North must keep their rights as European Union citizens.

However, as long as he keeps drilling field goals of more than 50 yards, Raider Nation is OK with the Milan, Italy native filling in for the Polish Cannon.

Despite bouncing around training camps the last few seasons, Tavecchio has yet to appear in an National Football League game.

The team also reportedly renegotiated Janikowski's contract, cutting his salary from $4 million to $3 million. Having him back for the second half of the season would provide a big boost for Oakland.
