Hillary Clinton Had No Concession Speech, Blames Loss On 'White People'

On September 9, 2016, Clinton was speaking at the LGBT for Hillary gala in NY when she lumped Trump's supporters into two 'baskets'.

"Yes, as an active politician it's over", Hillary told her, much to the relief of Democratic party leaders. "I am not done with politics because I literally believe that our country is at stake", she said.

Washington, Sep 10 (AFP) Hillary Clinton says she is "done" being a political candidate, and that her shock United States presidential loss past year to Donald Trump remains a source of deep anguish.

As the election returns came in, the stunned former Secretary of State couldn't muster a concession speech because she hoped Donald Trump 's electoral college wins would somehow be a mistake. "It's part of the demonstration of the continuity of our government", Clinton explained.

"The forces at work in 2016 were unlike anything I had seen or read it", she says, it was "the ideal storm".

The book, published by CBS-owned Simon & Schuster, includes an accounting for numerous missteps and strategic errors that Clinton said she made during the campaign, and for which she explicitly takes responsibility.

"In my political campaign, maybe I missed a few chances", she finally admitted. "And I should've done a better job of demonstrating I get it", she said. "I was up against the Russian intelligence apparatus, a misguided Federal Bureau of Investigation director, and now the godforsaken Electoral College", she writes in her book, according to NBC News. "There were a large number of people who didn't care". She felt "directionless and sad". Clinton said she had been "gobsmacked" by her loss, and talked about what she did afterward: "I went into a frenzy of closet-cleaning, long walks in the woods, playing with my dog, yoga, had my share of Chardonnay". "I thought a lot of his appeals to voters were deplorable".

Appearing this weekend on CBS' Sunday Morning to plug What Happened, her score-settling new book about the election, she got upstaged by Hurricane Irma. "Honestly, I wish she'd just shut the fuck up and go away".

Choking back tears, Clinton described the pain of attending Trump's inauguration - and listening to her victorious opponent's speech, which she called a "cry from the white nationalist gut". She penned the memoir on the dining room table of a guest house the Clintons had bought to accommodate staff and security for what they thought would be a second Clinton Administration. "When you know why you're doing something and you know there's nothing more to it and certainly nothing sinister, it's easy to assume that others will see it the same way".
