Washington couple Harvey, Irma amazed by hurricanes bearing their names

Irma and Harvey have weathered 75 years together, and Americans can weather the two storms that bear their long as we remember the power of love, the power of giving, and the human decency that makes this one elderly couple a pair we're not likely to forget anytime soon.

"It's not hard", Irma told the Spokesman-Review. Both had grown up in big families and it seemed only natural to begin to take in groups of foster children, many of them physically or mentally disabled. "I don't know, I just like him!"

"The level of adversity brought by Hurricane Harvey, and the expected wrath of Hurricane Irma, have broken all records of devastation for Atlantic hurricanes", said Roy Schoenberg, CEO of American Well, "More importantly, they have exceeded any level of preparation or disaster control by state and federal agencies and left millions of people stranded".

"They're the most loving, wonderful, giving people I know", their adoptive child Dona Schluter, 47, told the newspaper.

The World Meteorological Organization is in charge of the list of names used for hurricanes.

As for the onslaught of news reports on the hurricanes with their names, the two say it's "really sad". The rotating lists of names include one for each letter of the alphabet.

The choice of names is far from random.

Mandatory evacuation for Georgia's coast
Saturday and only westbound traffic will be allowed. "You need to start preparing for some type of impact", Cooper said. The school's on-campus students will be relocated to its Atlanta campus.

Harvey and Irma said they have never considered themselves to resemble a hurricane, they said this will be an unusual memory to share together.

It's because the naming has another rule: If a hurricane causes a lot of damage, its name becomes part of history and it would be confusing or even insensitive to use the same name again.

Harvey was actually always followed by Irene. Names of hurricanes usually alternate from boy to girl.

Given the severity of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, experts expect that the names will thus be put to bed.

It will probably also be the last time.

"He said come on let's get married, and I said oh no I have to finish school", said Irma.
