Kevin Hart shames celebrities; donates huge sum to Harvey relief

After realizing how vast Hurricane Harvey's damage has been to the people in the Houston area, Kevin Hart took to Instagram for a honest plea for donations to the Red Cross.

"I have friends and family there, and I'm nearly certain my house down there may have to be torn down as it was in one of the areas that was hardest hit by winds and flooding", he said in a Twitter video.

"At this point I'm going to start a real challenge". I'm challenging a lot of my celebrity friends to follow my lead and donating $25,000 to Hurricane Harvey to the Red Cross. "I've been a person that's partaken in several of them", Hart said in an Instagram video.

As for Beyonce, who is from Houston originally, she posted a message to Instagram, writing: "Texas, you are in my prayers". Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Steve Harvey, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Jerry Seinfeld were all mentioned.

According to reports, Texas and parts of Louisiana have received at least two feet of rain and a reprieve isn't expected until the end of the week at the earliest. On Sunday, Drake shared on Instagram that he was "working with local relief groups to aid and assist the people of Texas in any way" he could.

And recent MTV VMAs host Katy Perry tweeted a link to the Red Cross' donation efforts to more than 100 million followers on Twitter. "We're praying for your safety in the days to come and we stand with you as you rebuild because we're all in this together".
