More gold medals for Vietnam in cycling, shooting

This was the first gold medal of the Vietnamese shooting team.

Buoyed by his redemptive victory earlier in the 200m butterfly, Quah hammered away in the water as the seconds ticked away - and by the time he finally touched the wall, a new SEA Games record was born. Yeap also earned his second gold in the men's qiangshu with 9.68 points.

The remaining events went to Singaporean swimmers, who struck gold across the women's 50m butterfly, men's 200m backstroke, women's 100m freestyle, as well as the women's 4x200m freestyle relay.

That previous mark was set by Schooling, Yeo, Quah and Clement Lim at the 2015 SEA Game son home soil but on Tuesday night (Aug 22), Darren Lim proved an able replacement for Clement Lim as the 19-year-old contributed signficantly to the history-making swim.

Runners Vu Thi Ly and Duong Van Thai made a double win and won two gold medals in the women's and men's 800m events, respectively.

In winning the event for Malaysia after 16 years, the Sarawakian, who turned 25 on July 4, rewrote his own national record three times this year, his best was 65.34m before this.

Vietnam's Le Tu Chinch won the women's 100m with a time of 11.56, while Zaidatul Husniyah Zulkifli claimed the silver medal after finishing second in 11.74.

Malaysia's Tia'a Faang Der was the runner-up in 2:01.04, while Thailand's Navaphat Wongcharoen came third in 2:01.06.

Giving the Philippines more silver medals are Nathaniel Perez in the Men's Foil Individual of the Fencing Competition; Jayson Ramil Macaalay, Male Kumite Event Under 60-kilogram of the Karate-Do Competition; Rexor Tacay, Male Kumite Event Under 67-kilogram of the Karate-Do Competition; and Cray, Men's 100-meter Dash Athletics.
