Terrorists' killing follows truck bomb blast

At least 20 people were injured after an explosion in Lahore's Band Road in Pakistan on Monday night, The Express Tribune reported. What was the motive behind this blast and the kind of device being used i not yet ascertained.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Yasmin Rashid, who is also a candidate to contest election from NA-120 after the seat fell vacant due to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's disqualification, has demanded implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) in Punjab to curb attacks. As per media reports, the truck was coming from Swat, when the explosion happened in the Bund road area of Lahore.

The powerful explosion, which was heard far and wide in the city, also caused a 6-foot crater in the area while a building also collapsed. Meanwhile police have cordoned off the entire area. A rescue official told PTI that an explosive device planted in the truck went off at around 9pm local time. Four people suffering life-threatening injuries were admitted to the Mayo Hospital.

The publication notes that the number of attacks in the provincial capital of Punjab Lahore has decreased over the last several years, but Islamist fighting group is still active there and occasionally carry out large-scale attacks.
