Amy Schumer To Captivate Broadway With Steve Martin's 'Meteor Shower'

Amy Schumer is hitting Broadway in Steve Martin's new smash comedy, "Meteor Shower" to come out at the end of November.

According to production notes: 'Get ready for the unexpected when Norm and his wife Corky invite another couple to their Ojai backyard to watch a meteor shower in the night sky.

Meteor Shower will also mark Key's first Broadway production, after previously taking to the stage in the Off-Broadway rendition of Hamlet. Steve Martin, our forever comedy icon, wrote a play called Meteor Shower that will star Schumer, Keegan Michael Key, Alan Tudyk, and Laura Benanti.

Joining Ms. Schumer in the cast will be Laura Benanti (a Tony victor for "Gypsy"), Keegan-Michael Key (now performing in "Hamlet" at the Public Theater) and Alan Tudyk ("Firefly").

"Celebrating the news, Amy took to Twitter on Monday (07Aug17) and announced: "@stevemartintogo wrote a hilarious play @MeteorShowerBwy & I get to do it w/ (with) @KeeganMKey @LauraBenanti @AlanTudyk". The show will be directed by Tony victor Jerry Zaks.

"Meteor Shower" first appeared on stage at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre before landing in CT.

Last year, Martin's first musical, Bright Star, wrapped its Broadway run, for which it was nominated for 5 Tonys: Best Musical, Best Book, Best Original Score, Best Lead Actress in a Musical, and Best Orchestrations.

Amy plays Renee Barrett In I Feel Pretty, a woman whose head injury leads her to believe a spell was cast on her to make her look incredibly lovely.
