Samsung's Galaxy S8 Active Arrives Exclusively at AT&T This Week

In addition to its rugged exterior, the Galaxy S8 Active also comes with a much larger 4,000mAh battery underneath the hood.

The current going rate on the phone is about $850, which would break down into payments of just over $28 per month for 30 months - or at least this is what AT&T is offering. However, the Galaxy S8 Active lacks dual curved edges as seen on the regular Galaxy S8 devices. The makes the phone a bit heftier than the standard Galaxy S8, but Samsung says it allows the device to meet military-grade durability standards.

To fortify the device, Samsung has bound it with a metal frame and bumper to deal with any shocks to the device, while the back has a rugged texture for a secure grip.

"The S8 Active has a 5.8" Super AMOLED display with the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio and 2960x1440 resolution as the other Galaxy S8 models.

Whether you live an adventurous life or have butterfingers, Samsung has a new smartphone you might want to consider: the Galaxy S8 Active.

The S8 Active is powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset, and there's 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, 12MP f/1.7 rear camera, and an 8MP front shooter. If you choose to opt in for a 2 year contract plan you can also get either the Samsung Gear S2 for $1 or the latest Gear S3 for $99. The handset will be offered with Meteor Gray and Titanium finishes.

The Galaxy S8 Active goes up for pre-order starting tomorrow before hitting stores on August 11.

Another reason why you might pick this over another Galaxy phone is the battery.

This is unlike the recently launched flagship phones by Samsung.

News that LG Electronics will also release its V30 on September 15 has been reported by some foreign press, leading some to wonder if the Galaxy Note 8 and V30 will be released on the same day.
