Eagle Scouts Dead in Sailing Electrocution

The two teens - aged 16 and 18 - were killed after their vessel collided with an overhead power line, likely sending a jolt of electricity through the boat, Texas officials said yesterday.

He was rushed to Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport and is listed in critical condition. The identities of the two older boys who died have not yet been released.

The third boy, who remains hospitalized, was rescued by troop masters who saw the incident unfold and paddled about 200 yards to the flaming catamaran.

TWO teenage Boy Scouts have died and one is seriously injured after the boat they were sailing in Texas hit a power line.

He said other Scouts were at a camp site on private land and it immediately became apparent to them that the three were in distress.

Thomas's mother says her son's lungs have not functioned on their own since the accident.

Bystanders gave him CPR and he was transported to a nearby hospital, according to a statement from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims' families.

Dewayne Stephens, CEO of the Scouts' East Texas Area Council, issued a statement thanking emergency teams for their response. "We will support them in any way that we can", he said. Our heartfelt prayers go out for all of the Scouts, their families, and for the community.
