Seahawks' Kam Chancellor Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension

Seahawks' Kam Chancellor Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension

Chancellor was coming up on the final year of a five-year, $29.323 million deal he signed back in 2013. That last piece may be resolved sooner rather than later.

Former Virginia Tech safety Kam Chancellor signed a contract extension to remain with the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.

After the signing, Chancellor said he loves the Seahawks as they gave him his first and only opportunity to play in the National Football League and "I would love to retire here".

"I love this team", Chancellor said, via Seattle's team website. Assuming the new extension adds three years onto that deal as opposed to replacing it, Chancellor, 29, will be under contract with Seattle through the 2020 season. Any wounds from that decision were healed when Chancellor was voted a team captain last season.

RB Leipzig Coach Quashes Naby Keita Rumours
We have very young players and I think for them it is very important to play the first year in the Champions League as a team. Liverpool looked ready to break the bank to secure his signature after seeking record offers of £57m and £66m rejected.

Meanwhile, at least one teammate had previously called the Seahawks out about not locking Chancellor up prior to Tuesday's extension (more on that here).

"I love this team", Chancellor said, via ESPN's Sheil Kapadia. In 2016, Chancellor had an even better year, with 83 combined tackles, two interceptions, eight passes defended and a forced fumble. "Till the wheels fall off". I can't really put a time frame on how long I want to play.

"As long as the wheels let me, as long as the wheels let me", he told reporters at Seahawks training camp. "It's however long my body holds up, and however long the Lord allows me".
