Priebus is out as White House chief of staff

President Trump announced he is replacing White House chief of staff Reince Priebus with his Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly. "Reince Priebus is a good man", Trump said Friday as he deplaned following his NY visit with law enforcement officers.

The shakeup was announced shortly after Air Force One landed at Joint Base Andrews, returning from a speech in Long Island, NY. Priebus was on the plane with the Republican president and made no comment.

Mr. Trump has openly told people that he has lost faith in Mr. Priebus.

The Wisconsin Republican also recognized Trump's new chief of staff, former Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, saying, "I congratulate Secretary Kelly on his appointment, and look forward to working with him to advance our agenda".

"I'm doing great", Priebus said. "I want to talk to the press and the Hill about what my people do, and frankly, shame on us if someone like you writes an inaccurate story".

Kelly even defended efforts by top White House advisor Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, to create secret back-channel communications with Russian Federation as a "good thing". "The President thanks him and his family for his great service to the country, and he will always be a member of the Trump Team". Kushner has described him to associates as the kind of figure he'd like to see have more say in the administration. "We all serve at the pleasure of the president and if he gets to a place where that isn't the case, he'll let you know".

Kelly is now the secretary of Homeland Security.

However, he said he feels confident Trump will protect Iowa's status as the first state to vote in the presidential nominating process - the biggest national priority for Iowa's state parties - and likes John Kelly, the Homeland Security secretary Trump appointed as Priebus' successor.

Stalker arrested after following actress to Comic Con, police say
Authorities arrested an Iowa man early Saturday after he reportedly stalked actress Kate Beckinsale at Tampa Bay Comic Con . According to police, Repp was found at the Tampa Convention Center, where Beckinsale was scheduled to appear at 11:30 a.m.

One thing that Priebus had was good relations with the Congress, which provided a vital lifeline from Capitol Hill to the White House.

There has been longstanding staff rivalry between veterans who signed up early for Trump's presidential campaign and Republican National Committee officials brought in for the fall race against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

When Trump asked him to join his administration as secretary of Homeland Security, he "panicked for a bit", he told the Aspen Security Conference last week: "All I could think about is, how do I get out of this?"

The move followed months of on-again, off-again speculation that Priebus would soon be ousted from an administration where he has consistently drawn heavy criticism for failing to stem the flow of leaks and struggled to impose a sense of order in a chaotic White House beset by controversies.

GOP lawmakers and influential Republicans, including House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) and Newt Gingrich, chimed in to support the selection of Kelly and to bid Priebus farewell, with Ryan calling him a "dear friend".

Trump also fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates when she refused to enforce Trump's first ban on travel from several Muslim-majority nations.

"Secretary Kelly is one of the strongest and most natural leaders I've ever known", Graham said.

Nevertheless, Scaramucci escalated tensions by comparing himself and Priebus to "Cain and Abel" in a CNN interview Thursday morning. "We have had differences", Mr Scaramucci said of Mr Priebus.
