Former Florida DE Dante Fowler arrested for battery, mischief on Tuesday night

The victim was uninjured, according to what the victim and a witness told police.

"Fowler got out of his vehicle, exchanged words with the man, then 'hit the man, knocked his glasses off and stepped on them, ' according to the report". Police stated the man did not claim injury in the incident.

A search of the Pinellas County jail records show that Fowler was released on a $650 cash bond.

Not smiling now: Jacksonville DE Dante Fowler Jr. was arrested Tuesday night. Fowler is also accused of taking the victim's grocery bag with newly bought liquor and throwing it in a lake.

The Jaguars released a statement Wednesday morning addressing the weird incident.

The 25-year-old Whitehead tried to get detectives on the case, but they were unable to trace the dognapper's phone. It has not been reported how the dog came to return home or if money changed hands.

Fowler missed his entire rookie season due to a torn ACL suffered in the first session of his rookie minicamp.

Both charges are considered misdemeanors and there's a chance Fowler could face disciplinary action from the NFL.

Fowler is scheduled to report to training camp July 26.

Fowler missed the 2015 National Football League season after tearing left knee ligaments during his first workout with the Jaguars.

Everyone breaks an occasional traffic law, but Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler appears to be doing more than his fair share of unsafe driving. The Jaguars took Fowler ahead of other prominent collegiate defensive ends like the USC Trojans' Leonard Williams and the Clemson Tigers' Vic Beasley.
