Xiaomi Mi Max 2 launches in India for ₹16999

Marking its another smartphone entry in India, Xiaomi has launched the Mi Max 2 phablet at Rs. 16,999.

There is a 5300mAh battery and has 4GB RAM and is the successor of the Mi Max that has launched past year.

The Mi Max 2, a mid-range segment big screen smartphone, sports a 6.44 inch IPS display with a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution with secure Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

The Mi Max 2 has got a full metal unibody design with rounded edges, that makes it easier to hold. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. On the storage front, the device offers 64GB of internal memory, sadly though Xiaomi is not bringing the 128GB variant to India. It will run Android Nougat with the MIUI 9 user interface on top, which will also officially be announced on the same day. The poster showcases actor Kris Wu holding the Mi 5X, which will feature dual rear cameras and dual LED flash. "Mi Max 2" can also charge other smartphones connected to its USB Type-C port placed in between the speaker grills. On the battery front, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is fuelled by a massive 5300mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to two days of battery life.

The device comes with Quick Charge 3.0 technology with parallel charging which allows fast charging while controlling temperature increase.

All the Mi Max 2 units sold in India will be manufactured domestically, and the handset will get MIUI 9 custom software in coming months.

Xiaomi, that clocked over $1 billion in revenue in India a year ago, shipped 23.16 million smartphones in the second quarter of 2017, a whopping increase of 70 per cent from the previous quarter. The Phone will be available first on Mi Home and on 20 and 21 July. It also runs on the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset and will be available with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The smartphone will be available across e-commerce websites as well as on offline retail stores starting July 27. Xiaomi has also teamed up with Jio to offer up to 100GB of 4G data to those picking up the Mi Max 2.
