McGarrity: China and North Korea

North Korea, one of the world's worst human rights abusers, is continuing to expand its nuclear and ballistic missile threats against the American homeland and our allies, said Senator Marco Rubio.

"It has become feasible to respond effectively to North Korean drones", the South Korean agency said.

The latest potential measures could also be posturing prior to next week's meetings, given Trump's tweet following his meeting with Xi at the Group of 20 summit in Hamburg, Germany over the weekend.

However, the administration's stance has been obscured by negative remarks toward military action against North Korea by members of the President's Cabinet. Being together as one huge blessing of God and of all those that gave us all they had to give, and the precious gift of life!

The temptation then, particularly when dealing with an isolated country that doesn't seem to have a very modern military, is to consider using the huge technological edge held by the USA and its allies to try some kind of preemptive move.

Kid Rock Might Be Planning Senate Run
There's a mixed bag of comments coming from the online world today across the social media sites. But "Black Aziz Ansari" isn't a rabid Kid Rock fan-he's just a brilliant internet troll.

A bipartisan group of five top Senators have introduced a legislation which if passed, would ban any entity that does business with North Korea or its enablers, from using the U.S. financial system. On the other side would be a coalition led by the United States including Japan, South Korea and the European Union. China has a great deal of trade with North Korea. Along with nuclear assets in South Korea, we could swiftly reduce the country of North Korea to the Stone Age, an assured destruction. As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called for the revival of Six Party Talks on the North Korean crisis since April 2016, tangible progress towards inter-Korean diplomatic dialogue will represent the fulfillment of a long-standing Russian goal.

Chang Kyung-soo, South Korean Defense Ministry's acting chief of policy planning office, held a video conference with David F. Helvey, U.S. assistant secretary of defense for Asian and Pacific security affairs, and Satoshi Maeda, director general for Japan's defense policy, Wednesday to coordinate responses to Pyongyang's launch of the Hwasong-14 missile test.

North Korea's biggest need is to pay for fuel, since the country doesn't come close to producing enough oil. The fact that China emphasized its alliance with North Korea just two days after North Korea's launch of a missile can be interpreted as an intention to reject further sanctions that could destabilize the North Korean regime. Across the region, only Filipinos have a generally positive view of North Korea, with more than half (53%) holding a favorable view.

Trump pledged repeatedly during his election campaign to get tough on Chinese trade practices deemed unfair to the United States, but his rhetoric softened after the friendlier-than-expected April summit with Mr. Xi. It is designed specifically for transmission to North Korea, which also uses the analog system.

A spokesman for China's foreign ministry said the two countries "maintain normal trade relations" and China's position on de-nuclearization on the Korean Peninsular is "firm and clear". He can be followed on Twitter at samramani2 and on Facebook at Samuel Ramani.
