Teenage son of former Atlanta Braves player on life support

Former San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves player Keith Lockhart and his family are asking for prayers for his 15-year-old son, who is on life support after being hit in the face by a baseball during a tournament last week, Today.com reported.

The Lockharts are optimistic about Jason's recovery.

"He is going to be okay we just don't really know when". He's now being cared for at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta in a "paralytic state".

Sydney Lockhart wrote that there is some blood in her brother's lungs, he has a fever and he is experiencing some bleeding.

His nose was broken in the incident, and doctors later discovered a torn artery.

That represented a $165-million loss in exports for the month, including $105 million in B.C. and $18 million in Quebec. Results of a final investigation is expected in September to determine if the tariffs are permanent, the release noted.

"We are more at peace as we are getting closer to seeing his sweet eyes open, feeling his hand squeeze ours back, and help him heal and sort through what all he has been through this week", Sydney Lockhart wrote in an update on Tuesday. However, the slightest movements- such as a cough- would cause massive bleeds that would not stop. "They will watch him for 24 hours and then he will go into surgery tomorrow to have his nose repacked and this will give them an opportunity to look back behind the packing to make sure there are no other areas bleeding".

By Friday, doctors put him on life support and sedated him to a "paralytic level" so they could monitor and contain any bleeding. The procedure is to determine where the bleeding started. They encourage the prayers.

"I can't begin to tell you how strong Jason has been, and how much fright he has experienced along the way that he blew us away with his strength and focus to get through some of the scares in this process", Jason's mother said in a post on Sydney's Facebook page. The teen had more surgery Sunday night and was to have another operation this week.

Our thoughts are with the Lockhart family during this tough time.

Keith Lockhart was a major league infielder for 10 seasons, playing for the Braves from 1997 to 2002.
