Wife: Man who shot congressman wanted to work on tax policy

Her daughter and a 2-year-old grandchild had moved in with the Hodgkinsons before that, she said, and her husband may have left because he wanted "a break from it". And to get a better sense of the political climate, I stopped by a local softball league game here last night, spoke to some people there.

Mr Dale Walsh, who identified himself as a friend, said Hodgkinson had been a vibrant presence when he was younger.

She said she didn't necessarily consider his departure odd.

"Looking back with 20/20 hindsight, I can see how the guy was troubled, but at the time I thought he was working", Brennwald said.

Hodgkinson's daily routine was to sit for hours in the YMCA, looking at his laptop, not using the exercise equipment, but sometimes using the sauna, Euille said.

On Friday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a statement that it continues to process evidence and "to assess the potential motivations of the single shooter".

Zach Barth, a staffer for Texas GOP Rep. Two Capitol Police officers sustained relatively minor injuries. The FBI said he was in Alexandria, Virginia, where the shooting took place, since March.

Gillespie wins GOP nomination in governor's race
Perriello pledged in his concession speech to help Northam and said his campaign had shown that a "movement" is "rising up". Gillespie enters the general election wounded, having failed to crack 50 percent in a race he was expected to dominate.

"We're just not sure at this time" how he spent his time, he said. It was parked across from the scene of the shooting. He always drank Budweiser from a can and drank alone, barely speaking to anyone, including the bartenders. "435 Members of Congress, and 300 million Americans, are pulling for him, praying for him, and pledging to him our full and total support", he said. And she wouldn't go into anything about his politics but did add this detail that he sold everything he owned from his businesses. She also said she didn't know exactly who was shot on Wednesday, but she is sorry that he did this.

The FBI has swarmed the IL home of James Hodgkinson, combing through evidence trying to understand what could've led the 66-year-old man to the shooting rampage at a Republican congressional baseball practice. Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential campaign, even traveling to Iowa to help the liberal politician stump for votes.

James Hodgkinson of Belleville, Ill., purchased the two guns he used in the Wednesday shooting legally. Many included complaints about the same theme: income inequality. Hodgkinson wrote often about his hate of the GOP, and, to these Republicans, his decision to take violent action was implicitly encouraged by the Democrats' unrelenting attacks against President Donald Trump.

What was mentioned of the 2006 incident in the AOL profile was that, "court records show that Hodgkinson has been arrested on charges of battery and aiding damage to a motor vehicle in 2006". When that woman's boyfriend confronted Hodgkinson, he struck him in the face with a shotgun before firing off a round as the man fled, a police report said.

The case was eventually dismissed in court.

The law enforcement source tells CNN that it's not clear it is an assassination list.
