Jets to release Eric Decker on Tuesday

The announcement on Monday officially ends Decker's tenure with the team after three seasons.

The Ravens' depth chart at the receiver position now lists: Maclin, Mike Wallace, Brashad Perriman, Michael Campanaro, Chris Moore and Keenan Reynolds. With Decker now open to sign with any team, he is not expected to last long on the market.

"We think very highly of Eric, [but] our focus right now is seeing our young players and what they do", Maccagnan said.

The Jets, in a trade, would probably get nothing more than a late-round draft pick for Decker - perhaps a conditional pick dictated by what Decker does for his new team in 2017. The 30-year-old receiver had 163 catches for 2,183 yards and 19 touchdowns in three seasons with NY. When healthy, he's one of the most reliable receivers in the league and a true weapon in the red zone - something the Jets now lack with Brandon Marshall playing for the Giants. "While with us, he was a competitive, productive, and dependable receiver who represented the team well both on and off the field".

IndyCar race at Texas red-flagged after big crash
Polesitter Charlie Kimball completed just 41 laps before an oil leak sidelined him and sent the No. 83 machine to the garage. On Lap 37, Alexander Rossi found himself in the middle of Dixon and Kanaan, and three-wide approaching Turn 3 didn't work.

On the same day Maccagnan voiced his plan to move on from Decker, the organization released veteran linebacker David Harris. In 2016 Decker was off to a similar start before injuring his shoulder in the third game of the season and missing the remainder of the season.

The Jets save $7.25 million in salary cap space, and Decker is free to sign with any team he chooses. His best season with Gang Green came in 2015, when he hauled in 80 passes for 1,027 yards and 12 TDs.

"Thank you @nyjets for the opportunity the last 3 years!" Decker wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

The Jets' top receivers now are Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson, who have a combined 122 career catches. He has 5,253 career yards and 52 touchdowns.
