Donald Trump campaign had at least 18 undisclosed contacts with Russia

The contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian government included at least six phone calls between former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergei Kislyak.

Those discussions focused on mending US-Russian economic relations strained by sanctions imposed on Moscow, cooperating in fighting Islamic State in Syria and containing a more assertive China, the sources said. Do you think they need to tone it down?

Officials who described the calls to Reuters said they saw no evidence of wrongdoing or collusion between the two, though it does contradict past claims by the Trump campaign and President Donald Trump. The publication said they spoke with current and former USA officials, who were unnamed. At the time, Vice President-elect Mike Pence told CBS's "Face the Nation" that there was no contact between the Trump team and Russian officials during the election campaign. "We are doing this and have been doing this during the election campaign".

Sources told Reuters that one of the people Trump aides were in contact with was Viktor Medvedchuk, a Ukrainian oligarch and politician. Six of these calls were with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. They were attempting to create a back channel between Trump and Putin so that they could talk without being hampered, or you know reasonably monitored, by the US blob.

According to four current USA officials, the contacts between Flynn and Kislyak only accelerated after the election as they continued to set up what they considered to be a back channel in order for contact to be established between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting was arranged by the United Arab Emirates and took place in the Seychelles islands, The Washington Post reports. Pence said. "This is all a distraction, and it's all part of a narrative to delegitimatize the election and to question the legitimacy of (Trump's) presidency".

Flynn has been the center of controversy for the Trump administration. Congressional investigators are seeking Comey's memos, as well as documents from the Justice Department related to the firing.

Reliever Tyler Thornburg was transferred to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Kendrick on Boston's 40-man roster. Once this four-game set is over, the O's and Red Sox take a break and don't meet again until June 1 at Camden Yards.

Trump national security adviser Mike Flynn resigned in February after it came to light that he had lied about a December meeting with Kislyak in which he discussed lifting US sanctions on Russian Federation. Yates added that the DOJ had reason to believe that Flynn was vulnerable to blackmail from the Russian government, according to CNN.

Following the election, Flynn and Kislyak discussed creating a back channel communication to skirt the American national security establishment. Flynn had discussed easing US sanctions against Russian Federation with the ambassador. Comey recounted the conversation in an Federal Bureau of Investigation memo.

The US Justice Department said on Wednesday it had appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate alleged Russian meddling in the US presidential campaign and possible collusion between Trump's campaign and Russia.

Sources close to Trump have asserted that it was hard for him to fire Flynn.
