Real survive early Atletico onslaught to reach final

Jorge Sampaoli's chances of landing his dream job at Barcelona may have come and gone, but he could still hand Barca the La Liga title on a plate should Sevilla shock Real Madrid on Sunday.

Zinedine Zidane: "We have three cup finals in LaLiga and we're starting with the first, tomorrow". This is not the first time that these two teams will meet in the Champions League final.

Alaves v Celta Vigo (1400), Real Sociedad v Malaga, Las Palmas v Barcelona, Real Madrid v Sevilla, Villarreal v Deportivo la Coruna, Eibar v Sporting Gijon, Real Betis v Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao v Leganes (all 1800).

The banners at the Bernabeu last week read "tell me how it feels", along with an image of the Champions League trophy and the words "Milan" and "Lisbon", the cities which hosted the finals where Madrid defeated Atletico in 2014 and 2016.

"We are very focused on this game, we know it will not be easy", Dybala said. The competition, passion, enthusiasm that we see in this tournament is way more than any other league. The first 30, 35 minutes we played will remain in the fans' memory for a long time.

Atletico was upset by the banners and provoked Madrid in the run-up to the second leg.

Zidane's men faced a potentially tricky last-eight clash against Bayern Munich and needed extra time in the second leg to eventually clinch victory, 4-2 on aggregate.

Anthem gives up Cigna bid, vows to fight on over damages
Cigna confirmed the decision in an emailed statement on Thursday, adding: "We look forward to closing this final chapter". This morning, health insurance giant Anthem dropped its troubled bid to take over one of its top competitors, Cigna .

The French striker also explained why Real Madrid are going so well this season, "Everyone is involved, everyone, this is important in big teams".

Real Madrid booked a place in the Champions League against Juventus final on Wednesday night following a tense Champions League semi-final return leg away to Atletico Madrid in the last European game to be held in the Vicente Calderon stadium.

The Bianconeri never looked like wobbling in their quest to reach the knockout rounds, with Lyon the only side able to take points off them with a late goal in the 1-1 November draw. Karim Benzema somehow escaped the attention of three Atletico defenders on the by-line and cut the ball back for Toni Kroos.

Bayern Munich were left aggrieved by some terrible officiating in the second leg as Real Madrid reached the last four thanks to Ronaldo's hat-trick.

Simeone's side, then the defending La Liga champions, inflicted Real's heaviest league defeat in over four years when they produced a scintillating 4-0 home win in February 2015. After beating arch-rivals Atletico Madrid, this will be Real Madrid's second consecutive Champions League final.

The Coppa Italia final meeting with Lazio has been changed to May 17 due to Juve's success in the Champions League and advancement to next month's final.
