Iran welcomes China's new Silk Road initiative

Sharif also attended a presentation made by China's National Energy Administration (NEA) on the construction of Bhasha Dam, a project which he said is of critical importance for the future of Pakistan.

Three agreements were pertaining to economic and technical cooperation worth 3.4 billion Yuan for Gwadar port and East Bay expressway.

Later, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Pakistans state-run APP news agency quoted Sharif as saying that both Pakistan and China favoured negotiations with India as the "most viable solution to the Kashmir dispute".

Moreover, back in May 2015, the leaders of Russian Federation and China agreed to integrate the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the New Silk Road project.

The country has signed agreements on film and television cooperation with 15 countries, vice director of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) Tong Gang told a press briefing on Thursday.

China has already announced plans to station its marines there as well in Djibouti in Horn of Africa in Indian Ocean. Given the rising protectionist and anti-globalization sentiments in many parts of the world, it is in our interest that China and the European Union stay committed to free trade and economic openness, a rules-based, transparent and fair global trading regime and order, and open up markets, oppose protectionism and secure greater connectivity and economic development and prosperity.

He said that CPEC was a core component of the visionary initiative of the One belt-One Road.

Later, the Prime Minister also witnessed the signing of an MoU regarding roadmap for power projects under CPEC that was signed by Secretary Water & Power Yousuf Naseem Khokhar and Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan Sun Weidong.

About B & R, Indian officials maintain that New Delhi has objections related only to the CPEC traversing through Gilgit and Baltistan of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) though the project is of strategic concern.
