Tillman has triumphant return as Orioles beat White Sox 4-0

Dylan Covey could only go four innings for the White Sox, but the Chicago bullpen did pitch four scoreless innings to give them a chance to comeback.

Tillman was sent to the disabled list back on March 30 due to right shoulder bursitis, but the bursitis has cleared and he is now ready to take the mound.

"We were fortunate", Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.

Last season, Tillman pitched to the tune of a 16-6 record and 3.77 ERA, but his FIP was 4.23.

Especially after that wild start.

"I just need to execute a little bit better, maybe five to seven pitches a game", Covey said. "I was making the same mistake over and over".

For Chicago (15-13), Todd Frazier (back tightness) did not start or play on Friday, and the White Sox are hoping he might make it back to the starting lineup Saturday.

"Every start the rest of the way is going to be a hurdle", he said.

Mancini has six home runs this season and was beaming after his first three-RBI game in the big leagues. On the other side, I'd imagine the Orioles will be pretty careful with Tillman here, so I doubt we'll see much out of him. The right-hander allowed three runs on six hits over six innings and left with a 6-3 lead.

Miley gave up three hits and registered two outs in the shortest start of his career.

He has a 2.27 ERA and 1.33 WHIP through six starts in 2017.

"I was grinding. I didn't have my curveball all game", Bundy said. It was a tough day for me. Frazier found a way to beat the shift by muscling a couple base hits to right, and Yolmer Sanchez had a three-hit afternoon, but the Sox had a helluva time bunching them together with anything else. Renteria was thrown from the game in the third inning for arguing balls and strikes with umpire Paul Emmel.

The Orioles took a 2-0 lead in the first on a sacrifice fly by Chris Davis and a single by Mancini.

Baltimore boosted the margin to 4-0 against Quintana on two RBI singles by Adam Jones and Manny Machado in the second. That scored Rickard and made the score of the game 4-0, which is where it would stay. "Someone close to him passed".

"He kept working to minimize the damage", Renteria said. Wieters played eight seasons in Baltimore before signing as a free agent with the Nationals. "We didn't do a whole lot after the first couple innings, but the pitching made it stand up". Baltimore C Francisco Pena, who had two hits, left the game in the eighth when he cramped during the pre-inning warmup.

That ended Miley's night after 12 pitches. "I think everyone's exhausted of the wind and the rain and the cold", Showalter said.

White Sox: After taking Monday off, Chicago opens a three-game series against the visiting Minnesota Twins. These two homers give Baltimore 36 in the first 29 games, and the rookie Manicini has six of them along with 17 RBIs.

All nine Orioles starters had at least one hit. The series shifts to Washington on Wednesday.
