'Star Wars: Episode IX' gets summer 2019 release date

Another highly anticipated film slated for a 2019 release aside from Star Wars: Episode IX is the sequel to children's favorite Frozen.

It's official: Disney and Lucasfilm have set release dates for "Star Wars: Episode IX" and "Indiana Jones 5".

The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm announced that the ninth chapter of the Star Wars saga will arrive in theaters May 24, 2019.

Most of the Star Wars-based attention will be on The Last Jedi for the foreseeable future, but Disney took the time today to announce the release date for Star Wars: Episode 9.

We also have a brand new date for the release of Indiana Jones 5. It will be followed by the sequel to one of the most successful animated features of all time, Frozen 2, on November 27, 2019.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017, release.

The second movie in the ongoing trilogy, "The Last Jedi", is due for theaters on December 15.

Kennedy touched on how she and the team have to balance several things at once: now they're focused on the Han Solo movie but are also about to start script reading and revisions on Episode IX, as well as looking into spin-off movies. Spielberg has directed every Jones movie and Ford has played the adventurous professor in every movie as well. Earlier this month, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy said that the late Carrie Fisher would not appear in the film as Leia.

Star Wars Land is expected to open at Disneyland in 2019. What we also know is that this will answer questions that are left in The Last Jedi.
