National Day of Prayer

National Day of Prayer

The central Pennsylvania chapter of Christian Business Men's Connection sponsored four events Thursday in Boalsburg, State College and Bellefonte in observation of National Day of Prayer.

Local ministers and others offered prayers for different segments of the nation and the community. "That's why we're able to do this".

"As we pray instead of just always asking for things, we need to listen".

David Epps, the Topeka city coordinator for National Day of Prayer, said everyone was welcome to attend the events.

Rollins said unity was the theme of the prayers. "We can't get the church to work together". However, we can not do more unless we are willing to work hard in prayer. It's only right that we look to God. "It's awesome that we come together and pray".

Applause and shouts of "Amen" and "Yes, Lord" punctuated numerous prayers. "We are here to pray for our country, our city, our people, because that is what God has said he wants us to do". Had you not been listening carefully, you might easily have mistaken the proclamation as one from today. Miraculously and sovereignly, by a joint resolution of Congress in 1952, the National Day of Prayer began.

Dozens of people from multiple denominations gathered beneath the awning at Jones Park, united under one vision to support the power of prayer and the role it plays in the community.

He read from Psalm 67, which reads in part: "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; that thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations". "Then when we go back to the stadium next time, hopefully we will have a lot more people come out".
