Fox News Co-President Bill Shine Resigns

Fox News Co-President Bill Shine Resigns

Murdoch praised Shine's "huge role in building Fox News to. the nation's biggest and most important cable channel". Jack Abernethy, who was a co-president with Mr Shine, remains in his current position.

But the dismissal of Bill O'Reilly, the prime-time host who faced his own sexual harassment allegations, brought new scrutiny to the company.

"Sadly, Bill Shine resigned today", Murdoch said in a statement to employees.

"I know Bill was respected and liked by everyone at Fox News, " Murdoch wrote. "We will miss him".

Shine will be replaced by his longtime deputy, Suzanne Scott, who becomes president of programming, and Jay Wallace, the executive vice president for news who now becomes president of news.

"Through a FOX News spokesperson, Suzanne Scott said she never asked any women at Fox News - on-air or off - to support Roger Ailes". The network has been the highest-rated cable channel for months, besting rivals CNN and MSNBC, as well as non-news competition such as ESPN and HGTV. Jay Wallace has been elevated to president of news for the channel.

We finally know when 'Star Wars: Episode IX' will come out
This will be a bit of a big change for the Star Wars brand, as previous spin-offs were always given a Christmas opening. Disney and Lucasfilm have booked a date in theatres for Colin Trevorrow's " Star Wars: Episode IX " - May 24, 2019 .

Shine was named in some of the complaints for failing to take aggressive action in response to complaints about Fox News personnel.

In addition to Ailes, O'Reilly and now Shine, Fox has lost Megyn Kelly and Greta Van Susteren, both of whom anchored evening programmes on Fox. The host, whose show "The Five" just moved to prime time this week after O'Reilly's departure, said Wednesday he's on vacation for the rest of the week.

Shine likely read the Hollywood Reporter piece about himself, for Sherman says that he marched into Murdoch's office early Monday and demanded to talk.

Hannity had teased that he would address speculation he wanted out from his contract after Bill Shine was apparently ousted as co-president of Fox News after 20 years at the network.

Fox News Channel co-president Bill Shine is stepping down in the wake of yet another sexual harassment scandal. To many, Shine was seen as providing a steady hand during the upheaval.

Ailes was dismissed from the network last summer following multiple allegations of sexual harassment. Roginsky alleges in court that Shine retaliated against her for failing to attack Carlson for making the harassment allegations even though Ailes had sexually harassed Roginsky, too.
