The Brewers got the game winning hit from pinch hitter Jesu Aguilar, a solo home run off Matt Bowman in the seventh inning, giving Milwaukee a 5-4 lead.

Piscotty pulled up after crossing first base on his inning-ending grounder to third base.

Fowler strained his right shoulder in an unsuccessful attempt for a diving catch on Hernan Perez's third-inning drive. The result gave Milwaukee (15-14) its first series victory against its National League Central rival since April 2014, a span of 17 series which included 15 defeats and two splits.

Anderson gave up seven hits and four runs in 4 2/3 innings, issuing three walks and fanning six.

Aguilar's home run - his first in the major leagues - broke a seventh-inning tie.

National Day of Prayer
David Epps, the Topeka city coordinator for National Day of Prayer , said everyone was welcome to attend the events. Miraculously and sovereignly, by a joint resolution of Congress in 1952, the National Day of Prayer began.

Oliver Drake (2-0) got his second win with a scoreless sixth and Neftali Feliz, the last of five relievers, pitched the ninth for his eighth save. St. Louis' Adam Wainwright allowed 10 hits and four runs in five innings, walking three and whiffing four.

Two Cardinals outfielders left the game against the Brewers early Thursday night after suffering injuries.

The Cardinals went up 3-0 in the second, getting one run on an infield hit from Wong and the two-run triple from Fowler. He is 1-2 with a 5.34 ERA. On May 2 versus the Rangers, he drilled two homers as a left fielder. The Bucs will counter with right-hander Chad Kuhl, who is also 1-2 with a 6.26 ERA.

Rain flooded the St. Louis area over the last few days, causing Wednesday's tilt between the Milwaukee Brewers and STL Cardinals to be postponed and Thursday's start to be pushed back from 12:45 PM CST to 6:15 PM CST. The road trip continues with a three-game series in Pittsburgh starting Friday.
