Google Maps officially announces parking saving feature

Now, the update is rolling out for all users, both on Android and iOS.

For Android users, tap the blue dot and then tap "Save your parking" to add your parking location to the map. The options added to that would be setting a reminder for paying the parking meter, taking a picture of your parking space, sharing the location of your auto with a contact or noting down anything you think will help remind you of here you parked your vehicle. Users can tap on the blue dot and then select "Set as parking location" from the drop down menu.

Google Maps users may now use the mapping app to check where they parked their cars. The app will even give you a reminder 15 minutes before your meter expires, if you enter this information. They can also save an image of their parking spot and send parking location to friends, Google said in a blog post late on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, iOS users will get automatic parking detection if their device is connected to their vehicle by Bluetooth or USB.

Originally launched as part of a Google Maps beta (and only on Android) in March 2017, the feature just went live on Android and iOS.
