Subaru rolls out its Ascent full-size SUV

It follows on from Subaru's VIZIV-7 Concept revealed a year ago at the LA Motor Show. The sizes have also been updated - shorter, narrower, and lower than the Viziv-7, measuring 198.8 inches long, 78.3 inches wide, and 72.4 inches tall.

Stay tuned for more details on the production 2019 Subaru Ascent.

Now, Subaru has ponied up with the Ascent SUV concept.

Derived directly from the Viziv-7 concept which premiered at the 2016 LA Auto Show, the Ascent holds on to the Viziv-7's "Dynamic x Solid" design theme, boasting powerful fender flares and a large bluff grille to give it that imposing SUV look.

UK prime minister defends decision to seek snap election
Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron said that broadcasters should hold debates anyway, with an empty chair in May's place. A European Commission spokesman said the "real political" negotiations on Brexit will start after the election.

Info about the engine hasn't been confirmed, although Subaru does say it features a "newly-developed boxer" engine with direct injection and a turbocharger. That makes it noticeably similar to Volkswagen's Atlas which we drove earlier this month, and indeed the target audience is likely to be cross-shopping the two. Expect Subaru to employ a continuously variable automatic transmission as the middleman between the engine and the drive wheels. This platform will eventually underpin almost every Subaru model, which is why it was created to be flexible enough to work with both a compact vehicle and the Ascent, which will be Subaru's largest production model. WRX enthusiasts are always clamoring for more power and less turbo-lag, and a modified version of the new engine would seem like a fairly obvious candidate.

Subaru has recently announced its upcoming SUV named Ascent. There are also touchscreens for the window controls.

The Ascent will be built at the Lafayette, Indiana, Subaru plant exclusively for North America. Pricing and exact release date will come closer to launch.
