Galaxy S8: More screen and elegance, but a hefty price tag

Galaxy S8: More screen and elegance, but a hefty price tag

The new Samsung Galaxy S8 launches later this week and now we have a video which shows a speed test between some of the top smartphones available.

WITH the smartphone having been around for some time now, innovation has more or less come to a standstill.

Ultimately, I found these features to be more gimmick than genuinely useful - the thought of passing someone on the street and trying to scan their shoes doesn't really appeal to me.

Next up: the Galaxy S8.

Samsung Dex is one of the best features that let you connect the external display. That's all right, though: This is a phone that balances a careful polish with a few features that still push the envelope.

Will this affect how we take photos with the device?

If you don't have to pull open the phone, you really probably shouldn't.

It is the world's first mobile device certified by the UHD Alliance as Mobile HDR Premium, with the same vibrant colours and contrasts while watching any programme. This device is slightly unusual, and not just because Samsung removed the home button. However, many users complained that they couldn't adjust the color because the screen was already optimized. The Edge Panels - drawers that you access by swiping from the right hand side of the screen - are very useful for quickly finding apps or contacts.

Experts said the problem could be attributable to the fact that while traditional LCD panels use red, green, and blue, the Super AMOLED adopted by the Galaxy S8 uses two pixels, red-green and blue-green. Other than the new display, the back-located touch sensor, and the flash assembly, the phones are very similar. One is the new facial recognition system for unlocking the phone. Sure, you can just use the iris scanner or face recognition instead, but many apps, such as LastPass, exclusively use your finger for security. Also, Iris scanner is the new feature and everyone wants to try it.

In the afternoon, Modi and Turnbull travelled by a Delhi Metro train to visit the Akshardham temple in east Delhi. Trilateral cooperation among Australia, Japan and India is welcome.

Samsung says while it's convenient it's not highly secure.

As you can see if the GIF below, getting the sensor to accurately read a fingerprint is frustrating.

20% of Galaxy S7 owners said they planned to upgrade within a year, while 40% of S6 owners meant to do so and a good 55% of S5 owners meant to upgrade as well. You can also opt to attach images automatically captured by both the phone's front and rear cameras, or a 5-second audio recording. Samsung credits software and chip improvements. The camera will then combine them into one sharp, detailed photo. Samsung's flagships have had great success over the years, staying competitive despite mounting pressure from the likes of Huawei and Apple, and their phones make for an excellent option for users who want the best hardware on the market.

Except ... Bixby isn't launching in all its glory along with the phone. So to access Bixby you can use the dedicated button on the left or just flip to the left most Home screen.

At least Samsung kept the audio jack. Apart from South Korea, the smartphone will be going on sale in the United States and Canada as well on the same day.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus and headphones are displayed, Monday, April 17, 2017, in NY.

I have two gripes about the phone's industrial design.

The biggest news here is the battery.
