Edmonton Oilers vs. San Jose Sharks live stream, Game 3

The Oilers head into California looking to build on their impressive 2-0 victory over the Sharks on Friday night as the teams face off on Sunday in what should be an exciting contest in the first playoff game of the season in San Jose for the defending West champs.

That goal put the Oilers up 2-0.

"His play speaks for itself", Edmonton coach Todd McLellan said. "He has been tremendous for us".

The Sharks posted a 13-6 edge in shots on net in the first period. The Oilers are now 4-1 in their last five games with the Sharks. Joe Pavelski has one assist. He's in a groove right now so that's on us to get traffic.

"You've just to work for those bounces, stay positive", Burns said, "and pray to the hockey gods, I guess". So you got to shoot it quick, got to shoot it hard and know where you're going with it before you get it. It's a tough bounce.

"We're confident in him back there", Edmonton forward Jordan Eberle said.

"It's just all of Oil Country coming together for Game 3", added Bailey Hubner. Kassian also had the game-winning goal, a short-handed strike, in Game 2. They cut it to two on Sunday night. "Kind of move a pawn here and try not to give up anything and take advantage of our opportunities". "He's like any goalie, if they see it they stop it in this League". Thornton hasn't played since, but is skating and remains day-to-day.

They may not have what it takes to win the Stanley Cup this year, or even get past the Sharks for that matter.

Jones finished with 21 saves.

"I thought he was great", DeBoer said of Thornton.

"We need to find a way to score", captain Joe Pavelski said. Worth noting that Sekera and Russell have each logged over 14 minutes killing the Oilers 14 penalties to this point in the series, with the Oilers actually outscoring the Sharks 1-0 on their watch.

"After yesterday with the day off, wanted something light", Thornton said. Each of us selected "three stars" of the series to date, as well as one player who may have more to give. "You saw early in the game what he obviously means to our team, and I think talking to him as the game went on, he faded a little bit, but that's natural".

Starting in the second period, the Oilers were able to double their total of shots on goal in the first.

Instead, only halfway through the Klefbom's two minute penalty, Sharks right winger Joel Ward picked up a tripping penalty of his own.

Connor McDavid was at the center of Edmonton's two best second-period chances. We know that. That's been a concern for us all season. "We thought it would be a good time to come and celebrate with the kids". Thornton managed two shots on goal, delivered two hits and won his only two faceoffs during 16:27 of ice time. The series continues with Game 4 Tuesday night in San Jose.

The high amount was due in part to a carryover from a March 25 regular-season game when more than $76,000 went unclaimed.
