Detroit officers hurt in shooting after reported burglary

One officer is listed in critical condition, with a gunshot wound to the face.

The man and his family had called 911 at least three times on Sunday before the shooting.

- A Detroit Police Officer was shot in the face by a 19-year-old who police say was protecting his home from what he thought was a burglar.

The gunfire critically wounded the shot cop on the porch around 11:45 p.m. while shrapnel struck another officer in the arm, Craig said.

Craig said there was a 911 call placed by the residents because of what they thought was an attempted break-in, and in the 911 call the person reported seeing flashlights.

New York City Moves Toward Requiring Uber Tipping Option
Adding a tipping feature to Uber's app would remove one significant difference between Uber and its chief US competitor, Lyft . The IDG estimates tipping will be worth an extra $300m (£238m) to drivers in the city every year.

Both officers were rushed to the hospital, where the officer who was shot is in critical condition. It turned out that was the police, Craig said.

Craig said the family is "extremely remorseful" and "just want to make sure the officer is going to be OK".

Both officers were in full uniform, according to Craig, and were in a marked vehicle that was not put in front of the house. Craig says the shooter may not have realized police were at the door. The other was hit in the arm. On March 15, two officers were injured on the city's west side during a shootout.

"We're all just, everyone is just numb and devastated at such a senseless act occurred", Lowe's sister said.

The teenager, his mother and 14-year-old sibling were taken into police custody for the investigation.
