The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles got a bit of a scare Friday night - from home plate umpire Dale Scott. The Blue Jays are 6-2 in Estradas last 8 starts vs. Orioles, the Orioles are 27-57 in the last 84 meetings in Toronto and the under is 11-1 in the last 12 meetings. Seth Smith tacked on an insurance run with a solo shot in the ninth inning to help the American League East division leaders improve to 7-2.

Home plate umpire Dale Scott is taken off the field by stretcher and emergency vehicle.

With left-handed Orioles starter Wade Miley on the mound, manager John Gibbons opted for the right-handed hitting Barney instead of Coghlan.

The Blue Jays have lost five games by one run already this season and another two by three or fewer runs. I'm hoping for the best.

Toronto brought the winning run to the plate in the ninth before closer Zach Britton struck out Steve Pearce to lock down his fifth save.

It's worth noting that Scott suffered a concussion last July after taking a similar foul tip off his mask during a game in Arizona.

Roberto Osuna came into the game trying to lock down his 1st save as the Jays clung to a 1-0 lead they scratched out in the bottom of the 7th. But, boy, did the Jays ever need that pickup that Morales provided with his walkoff homer in after the Jays coughed up a 1-0 lead in the top of the 9th.

Early Saturday, Scott told The Associated Press by text that he was out of the hospital, feeling OK and that the results of a CT scan were normal.

The story is a hard thing to deal with right from the beginning, but it just continues to get more and more intense as it goes on. Thanks to the wonderful cinematography, we see both sides of the story - from Hannah's perspective and what actually happened .

But starting to do so without their superstar third baseman and perennial MVP candidate Josh Donaldson while he visits the disabled list for 10 days, only adds to the degree of difficulty.

Toronto Blue Jays infielders, from left, Justin Smoak, Troy Tulowitzki, Darwin Barney and Devon Travis wait for a pitching change during the seventh inning of a baseball game against the Baltimore Orioles in Toronto on Friday April 14, 2017.

The Orioles love to slaughter the Jays with the long ball, as we saw with their two wins to start the season back in Baltimore.

Liriano was replaced by Joe Biagini with two outs and a runner at first base in the seventh inning. And in the six, Chris Davis launched a rocket deep over the centre-field fence to increase the Orioles lead.

The Blue Jays struck out 15 times Friday night and did not take a base on balls.

Catcher/first baseman Juan Graterol was designated for assignment to make room for Coghlan on the 40-man roster. It's just a matter of time before things turn around, and against a pitcher who has pitched just 56.2 career innings under his belt, it might as well start here.

Davis hit his third homer of the season to lead off the sixth, giving Baltimore a 5-3 lead.
