In her acceptance speech, Malala stressed that "education is a right of every child and especially for girls", and that that "right should not be neglected". Ms. Yousafzai, now 19, was the youngest person to win the Nobel peace prize in 2014 when she was 17.

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has been appointed a UN Messenger of Peace to promote girls education, more than four years after a Taliban gunman shot her in the head.

Last year, on her 16th birthday, Malala addressed the United Nations in NY. How do you see yourself in this role? And I will continue to do that.

In 2012, Yousafzai survived an assassination attempt by the Taliban, a muslim fundamentalist group, for trying to get an education in her home country Pakistan. There she began to blog anonymously for the BBC's Urdu language site, campaigning for the right of girls to an education. That is crucial. We can not ignore it. Kate Robertson, co-founder of One Young World, says the world needs its young leaders to stand up for what's right. So that is my message, to make sure that they realise that their investment in education can change the whole world.
