Hezbollah: Israel Attacking Syria To Prevent ISIS Defeat

Syria's air defence forces fired anti-aircraft missiles at the Israeli jets as they returned from the mission.

Syria and Russian Federation have sent a "clear message" to Israel by summoning the country's ambassador and warning that the "the game is over".

Syria's use of anti-aircraft missiles against the Israeli jets however suggested an increased confidence in the Assad regime, which has seen a number of similar air raids by Israel.

"Next time, if the Syrian aerial defense apparatus acts against our planes, we will destroy it", Avigdor Lieberman told Israeli Public Radio on Sunday.

The Israeli attack was reported by the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which said that the strike targeted a vehicle traveling on a road between Damascus and Quneitra, a town in the Golan Heights near the border with Israel.

Plane crashes at South Sudan airport, dozens feared dead
In late February, a famine was declared in the country and more than 1 million people are at risk of starvation. A South Supreme Airlines plane carrying 44 people crashed at South Sudan's Wau airport.

The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Israel's Ambassador to Moscow to protest an Israeli military strike near the Syrian city of Palmyra, news agency Interfax quoted a ministry official as saying on Monday.

Israel's multi-tier air defense missile system will be fully operational early next month with the deployment of the David's Sling interceptor, a senior Israeli air force officer said on Monday.

That includes the Arrow, created to intercept long-range ballistic missiles in the stratosphere with an eye on Iran, and Iron Dome, which defends against short-range rockets from Gaza. Syria's ambassador to the UN, Bashar al-Jaafari, on Sunday insisted the Syrian response was "in line with Israel's terrorist operation" and had "changed the rules of the game".

On Friday morning, Israeli planes attacked several targets in Syria, reportedly destroying advanced arms provided to the Lebanese militant movement Hezbollah.

"It was a ballistic threat focused on the state of Israel", he said.
