Plead Guilty In Sandusky Scandal

Almost six years after former Penn State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was charged with sexual abuse of more than 50 young boys, two former Penn State University administrators plead guilty to endangering the welfare of children.

Both pleaded guilty Monday to endangering the welfare of children in the Jerry Sandusky cover-up case. Spanier was charged the following year on similar grounds and at the same time Curley and Schultz had the obstruction and conspiracy charges added. Each felony count carried the possibility of seven years in prison.

Penn State has settled almost three dozens lawsuits over allegations of people saying they were sexually abused by Sandusky.

Schultz and Curley were arrested in 2011 while another defendant, former university president Graham Spanier, was detained in 2012. A jury sided with McQueary on his claims that Curley and Schultz misrepresented to him how they would handle his report about Sandusky and that Spanier defamed him in statements of support for Curley and Schultz. The judge said there was no agreement on the sentence they will received.

Sandusky is now serving a prison sentence of 30-60 years after being convicted on over 40 child sexual abuse charges. "They ultimately rejected the idea of calling authorities, opting instead to bar Sandusky from bringing children on campus, to urge the former coach to submit to counseling and to inform his children's charity, the Second Mile, of the allegations".

One of his sons, Jeffrey Sandusky, was recently arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a minor. "If the law says you're required to report child abuse, it's a mandate and you ought to do it. Kids lives depend on it". He was convicted in 2012 of molesting 10 boys and is serving 30 to 60 years behind bars.

Shortly after Sandusky's arrest, Hall of Fame football coach Joe Paterno was sacked. The Pennlive report suggested it is possible Curley and Schultz could testify against Spanier at trial.
