TJ Lang Signs Three-Year Deal With Detroit Lions

Lang is the second offensive lineman to leave the Packers during free agency.

When the Green Bay Packers cut Pro Bowl left guard Josh Sitton last September, they had an obvious replacement in Lane Taylor. The coach and general manager's quest for getting more experienced on their iffy offensive line stops for now with Saturday's official signing of 25-year-old free-agent left tackle Luke Joeckel from Jacksonville. "Honestly, it was exciting a little bit of the time, but it was stressful".

Lang underwent hip surgery this offseason to finally take care of a lingering issue he's dealt with the last few seasons, but says he'll be back on the field and ready to go by the start of training camp. "I know that was a big story the past couple weeks, but for me, it's nothing but a positive", he said. And just got back early this morning from a trip out to Seattle. It's been about four days since I got a good night's sleep.

When we talk in the past about the squad, look now: now we need to see how they are important. Son can never be sure of a starting spot but he has netted 13 goals this season.

Lions gave former Packers G TJ Lang a three-year deal, per source.

"It's been a wild ride".

The Packers drafted Lang in the fourth round in 2009 out of Eastern Michigan, and he said "absolutely, yeah" when asked during the 2016 season if he preferred to stay in Green Bay, per Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (h/t Packers News). The free-agent market has been thinned out and offensive line is not considered a deep position in this year's draft.
