Martellus Bennett Signs With Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers announced on Friday, March 10th the signing of tight end Martellus Bennett.

Outside linebacker Nick Perry will be returning to the Green Bay Packers.

The name Martellus Bennett will not be new to the Packers or their fans, either. "I've enjoyed watching his development as a player and leader over the last five seasons", Head Coach Mike McCarthy said.

Bennett now has caught at least 50 passes in five consecutive seasons, highlighted by a 90-reception showing with the Bears in 2014. He drew a huge pass interference penalty in overtime of Super Bowl LI that set up the eventual game-winning touchdown run by James White. "Watching the Pack a year ago, I saw some things with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and Jordy Nelson outside, Randall Cobb and all the talent on the team, I thought it would be a great place for me to come in and just try to add onto what they already have".

The Chicago Bears tried multiple times to sign free agent tight ends last offseason and came up short.

Polish Leader Congratulates Tusk on Reelection as European Council President
But no such requirement for unanimity exists, and Tusk won his re-election 27-1 (the one belonging, obviously, to Poland ). Poland had argued that the decision should be delayed because of its displeasure with Tusk, a bitter political rival.

Robert Griffin III was released after one flawed season with the Cleveland Browns, who remain in search of a quarterback to turn around their once-proud franchise. And Bennett comes at even more of a value than it first appeared.

Safety Micah Hyde has signed with the Buffalo Bills. The deal includes $18.5 million in guarantees. It's a standard three-year, $21 million, based on how contracts are typically valued and digested.

Perry was the Packers leading pass-rusher last season with 12 sacks.

Hyde has been a four-year starter at Green Bay since being selected in the fifth-round from Iowa in the 2013 draft.

Here's five things to know about the former Packers standout.
