Auto stolen with girl inside from Jane and Lawrence area

An Amber Alert has been requested by Toronto Police in relation to a missing child in a stolen motor vehicle. Ranbir Dhillon during a press conference Friday morning.

The girl has been identified as Christina Nguyen, who was buckled in a vehicle seat. In video recorded from the CTV News Toronto helicopter flying over the scene, the girl was later seen emerging from a nearby ambulance in her father's arms, then high-fiving police officers while a woman believed to her mother hugged other officers. She's in the vehicle.

Police believe, in fact, that the thief soon realized the problem he faced and dumped the auto, with Christina inside, in the parking lot of a townhouse development in Weston near Church St and Rosemount Ave.

Police say they are concerned for the girl's safety.

"Someone walking by found the auto".

The hunt for the girl began shortly after 6 a.m. when police said her parents put her in the running auto, then returned inside their home to retrieve another child. "We need to get to her as quickly as possible". Dhillon said. "We obviously want to find out who did this".

Vehicle is a 2008 black Toyota Camry, license plate BHVH 392, last seen at Jane and Lawrence at 6:00am.

"We want to alert people not to approach this auto", Hopkinson warned. "We just located the vehicle and the child".
