Jewish Children's Museum In Crown Heights Evacuated After Threat

The bomb threats were sent to the Jewish museum in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood Thursday morning.

In Birmingham, the Levite Jewish Community center has been threatened four separate times, receiving its most recent bomb threat just this week. No explosive device was found after any of the calls.

The lawmakers said in the letter they want to make sure the centers can continue to "serve their communities free from violence and intimidation".

Earlier in the day, sources told the media that Thompson was a "copycat" and that the investigation continued into finding the hoaxers behind the dozens of other bomb threats reported since January.

In a statement, Williams says, in part, "Birmingham's Jewish community, members of the JCC as well as the families that use their day care facilities are being targeted by threats of domestic terrorism".

Commissioner of Intelligence and Counter-terrorism John Miller of the New York Police Department (NYPD) said on the "CBS This Morning" TV program that the NYPD believes one man using a voice changer and phone-spoofing device is behind the bomb threats. The Jewish civil rights organization Anti-Defamation League also received the same threat at all its locations in New York, Washington, Atlanta and Boston.

"Still, we are frustrated with the progress in resolving this situation", the letter said.

More than 100 bomb threats have hit JCCs and other Jewish sites across the country since the beginning of the year.

"We need action to stop these threats", Bernstein said.
