Wenger decision to drop Sanchez backfires as Arsenal lose at Anfield

"The decision will depend completely on Arsenal Football Club".

Per Murtagh, Wenger is determined to show an improvement on the disastrous first leg: "I think it's up to us to show a different face tomorrow.because we literally blew it away there in the second half".

With reports suggesting that some of the Arsenal players are unhappy with how Sanchez visibly shows his frustration on the pitch - particularly in the 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie - Wenger acknowledged his behaviour is not flawless.

When Sadio Mane ran into space to make that wonderful pass to Roberto Firmino to set up the first goal, he must have been wondering whether the presence of Sanchez waiting to get the ball back and spring up a counterattack would have allowed Liverpool to go forward so freely.

Wenger denied that a training ground feud was the reason for Sanchez's omission from the Gunners' starting line-up at Liverpool on Saturday, but conceded the Chile playmaker was prone to "excessive behaviours".

Reports have suggested the Sanchez, who has yet to commit himself to a new deal, had a bust-up with Wenger after walking out of a training session in the build up to the game at Anfield.

Sanchez has been strongly linked with a summer move in the aftermath of Wenger's controversial call, and Lampard has reiterated his importance to the north London outfit. After the loss to Liverpool, they no longer are, now sitting in fifth place and without a Champions League place if the season ended today.

"Okay, Mesut Oezil was not in, (Alexis) Sanchez was not in, but pretty much the rest..."

"Nothing happened, nothing at all", said Wenger.

China has a long-term goal of "becoming a world-class military force, just like America, " he said. Trump has proposed to increase spending by $54 billion, a total closing in close to $600 billion.

It's March and there's less than 11 games left in the Premier League season.

"Our performance was not at the level we expect in the first half but that is down to a lack of rhythm, we have not played for a while", he said to the BBC.

Wenger said the decision to leave his side's top scorer on the bench was "tactical", believing the pairing of Olivier Giroud and Welbeck would provide a direct approach more threatening to Liverpool's defence.

He added: "Let's go Gunners". They were second best in every department to a rampant Liverpool side and two goals down at half-time.

"I explained after the game I chose to go for a more direct option - that was the unique reason for my decision", Wenger insisted.

"I have no special regrets, the only regret is to have lost the game", Wenger said.

OK, but surely the media wouldn't have made up something about the very heart-on-his-shoulder, passionate striker who doesn't want to play for Arsenal anymore.

To do so, Sanchez's presence appears to be a must, as he's by far their most potent attacker.
