The man received treatment at the airport clinic but died while being transferred to a nearby hospital, Reuters reported.

"He was put on a stretcher and was enroute to Putrajaya Hospital when he was pronounced dead". He is pictured here in 2010 Who was Kim Jong-nam?

Police told Reuters the investigation was ongoing but there were no suspects yet.

Police are looking into his movements while in Malaysia, as well as who he had met while staying in the country.

"Kim Jong Nam reportedly has been Beijing's favorite, which may mean one day the Chinese Communist Party may overthrow Kim Jong Un and install Kim Jong Nam", said Lee Sung-yoon, a North Korea expert at Tufts University's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. No other details were immediately available.

In 2012 a Moscow newspaper reported that Jong-Nam was having financial problems after being cut off by the Stalinist state for doubting its succession policy.

A post-mortem on Jong-nam will be carried out on Wednesday (15 February).

In 2001, Kim Jong Nam was detained in Tokyo's Narita International Airport, where he was reportedly using a forged Dominican Republic passport to visit Japan's theme park - or so he told authorities before they deported him to China. "We do not know his identity", Abdul said. Kim Jong Nam's son, now 21, once posted photographs of himself wearing a cross and has spoken out about humanitarian issues such as human rights and starvation in North Korea. Although there was scant evidence that Kim Jong Nam was plotting against the North Korean leader, he provided an alternative for North Koreans who would want to depose his brother. The official cause of death remains unknown, but a report claims he was poisoned by North Korean operatives.

Lady Gaga Crowd Surfs & Metallica's Mic Goes Out During Fiery Grammys Duet
Hours before the Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga teased her millions of fans on Instagram about her appearance at the awards show. This is truly surprising because in all the years I've seen Metallica , the band always perform without problems.

But the embarrassing incident in Japan was a tipping point, and Kim Jong Nam appears to have never lived in North Korea again.

"They have different mothers, and he is the older half-brother".

Kim Jong-Nam was once believed to be the heir apparent to long-standing North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il.

Two unidentified women, believed to be North Korean agents, attacked Mr Kim with poisoned needles before fleeing in a taxi, South Korean cable channel TV Chosun reported yesterday, citing a government source.

South Korea´s national news agency Yonhap quoted a Seoul government source as saying Kim Jong-Nam was killed on Monday.

Fadzil said an ambulance picked up Jong-Nam from the airport. "Loyalists may have wanted to get rid of him", he said. He spent his childhood at worldwide schools in Russian Federation and Switzerland, before returning to North Korea in 1988, the site said. "We should abide by such reasons if there are any", he told TV Asahi.

"I hope my younger brother will do his best for the sake of North Koreans' prosperous lives", he continued.
