Iran warns United States not to 'create new tensions' over missiles

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday warned the United States against "creating new tensions" with Tehran over ballistic missile tests, a day after Israel's prime minister said he would urge Washington to impose new sanctions over the launch.

However, he said this rule may have exceptions.

Iran's top diplomat said the U.S. decision to restrict arrivals from the Islamic Republic shows Washington's baseless claims of only having issues with the government in Tehran, stressing that the move is the greatest gift to terrorists and their supporters.

On January 27 Trump signed an executive order on suspending the U.S. refugee program for 120 days, as well as restricting the entry of citizens from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Libya and Yemen to the country for 90 days.

It warned that any U.S. move to extend discriminatory measures against the Iranian nationals would be illegal and said the Islamic Republic reserves the right to react to any violation of global law by Washington.

He however said that Iran would take reciprocal measures to protect its citizens while also taking into account that it is the US policies that are hostile not Americans.

"Long-lasting cooperation with Iran on railroads, ports, aviation, and renewable energy is top on agenda for France, therefore we will pursue the agreements until there are put into practice".

The United States is home to more than a million Iranians.

The new USA administration "has targeted the Iranian people and is an obvious insult to each and every member of the Iranian nation, which displays the United States' old allegations about friendship with people despite differences with the Iranian government have all been baseless and indicates the US government and its domestic and foreign influential circles feel collective grudge against all Iranians worldwide", the statement added.

The fate of the JCPOA is unclear following the inauguration of US President Donald Trump. "Don't want them here", Trump said earlier on Friday at the Pentagon.
