Top casino themed films

When creating a film for the big screen, directors often earn high honors for the manner in which they portrayed the film’s theme. With the popularity of casino gaming at an all-time high thanks to online casinos such as Ruby Fortune, many casino themed films have been produced. The addition of a casino to a film can add certain elements or risk and danger that further enhance the plot. These are some of the most popular casino films of all time.

The Cooler (2003)

In this film, William H. Macy, stars as a rather unlucky gambler who is employed by the mob to ruin the games of high rollers. His career goes quite well until he meets a cocktail waitress and falls in love. As a result, he seems to acquire some “lady luck” which puts the brakes on his ability to spoil the games of others.  The mob tries to break up the couple in an attempt to stop the winning streak.

Casino (1995)

The report also found that men were most likely to use an electric razor whereas women were most likely to use a manual one. Horror stories about hair removal gone wrong are still rare, however, considering how common the practice is.

Directed by Oscar winning director, Martin Scorsese, shows both the glittery, glamorous side of Vegas as well as the cruel one. The film centers on tow mobsters, portrayed by Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci, who move to Vegas to make their fortunes. The film casts light on the involvement of the mob in Vegas casinos during the 70’s and 80’s. The film also stars actress, Sharon Stone.

Ocean’s 11 (2001)

This movie was a remake of the 1960 classic with a similar plot in that a group of comrades join together to pull off heists on three major casinos along the Vegas Strip, the Bellagio, MGM Grand and the Mirage. Several casino scenes are included seeing the group learning to play poker in one popular scene. The film was one of the top grossing films of 2001 with a star studded cast including Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

The success of Ocean’s 11 has led to the development of a new spin-off, Oceans 8 which is due to be released in 2018. Will this film be as good as the other films in the series? Only time will tell!
